Oh come on, I know the author is trying to make the MC seem not so OP that he figures out everything instantly, but he SAW the boss throw his hands out and the vines come after him. No one would be dumb enough to not assume that the boss was controlling the vines.
It would be more of a twist to assume that the boss was controlling the vines at first, then it turns out that it’s actually TWO bosses, the main one he sees and another weaker boss controlling the vines.
