They explained it in part. It was because the King and everyone always compared them and said how perfect she was. He grew up without any love and was very jealous and treated her harshly. Because of her previous upbringing to always be perfect, all she could do was lower her head and keep an icy facade. She did small things for him behind the scenes like have the chef prepare his favorite meals but she never got credit for any of her hard work. Once the 2FL showed up, she easily poisoned the prince further with her manipulations. The prince was a big ass in the first life. He changed in this life because FL changed.
