   Seems like “Inky” is deliberately keeping the MC in the dark about the nature of the world he is in to make it seem normal to him. There is no other way he wouldn’t have noticed what was going on outside.

   Seems like inky porbids him to go outside. Remember the guy next door who ask help before?? Instead of him inky volunteer togo out.. maybe doris is right “he can only leaves in that libry store”
